The Rose

Beautiful, delicate flower
Watered by recent shower
Petals – crimson red
Through the earth; fed

A symbol of love
Nurtured by God above
From His creation; it came
Blessed am I; this is my name

For Mick

Congratulations
On your pressure cleaning business, today
You'll blast the competition away
Washing pavers, fences, roofs and walls
Prompt and reliable service to customers; all
It's easy to call for a free quote
You've got my number one vote

A business can be hard to run
With lots of difficulties and a little fun
It takes twenty – four hours a day
To be successful; it’s the only way
Staying true to the customers, you serve
A surety to having the winning curve
Be confident in your ability to succeed; believe
Then the desired outcome, you will receive

My Favourite AFL Team

Cheer cheer the red and the white
Even though beaten by 1 point last night
They came out prepared to fight
They will never give up
Still a chance to hold the AFL premiership cup
Stand by the team
Following their dream
One thing is certain
The Mighty Sydney Swans
Can still be there at the final curtain

Good luck
As the team plays
For the AFL premiership cup
Sportsmanship they show always
All psyched up
The name
Of the game
Is do their best
Pass by the rest
The end is in sight
The Mighty Sydney Swans
The Red and the White

Micheal O'Loughlin will play
His 300th game
Remember the name
He's a veteran all the way
Richmond will fall
Go the Bloods; one and all

What a game
The Swans played
Putting Richmond to shame
Off their hard work, paid
Beating the other team by 55
Through it all to win, they did strive
Successfully they succeeded
Self belief was all that the Swans needed
Every player did their best
Putting all their abilities to the test
Being victorious in the finish
The Mighty Sydney Swans' courage will never diminish

Winners, the Mighty Sydney Swans still are
Even though they didn't make the finals this year
Their fighting spirit, this won't mar
Other teams have something to fear
Watch them go in 2010
All great players; Roo's men
Every opposition's hopes, the Swannies will blight
So stand up and cheer for the Red and the White

The Game Of Footy

Football is the game to love
All other sports; above
The ANZ stadium is the best
With a capacity of 82,000
Why bother with the rest
18 men from 2 teams are on the field during play
Plus each side has 4 interchange ones on game day
There are 4/20 minute quarters in all
26-30 minutes if the ball out of bounds
The umpire calls
Time-on will be added to make up for play
That is lost
Or due to injury
Hoping it won't,to them, be a big cost
The field umpire, for play to begin, his whistle, he blows
Slamming the ball into the turf, for the bounce
Away they go
3 field umpires control general play
Where necessary, free kicks, they pay
Reported for serious rule breaches, players are
When the ball has gone out of play; too far
By throwing it over their heads
To return it is their aim
2 goal umpires control the scoring of the game
4 players from each team are allowed in the centre square
For each restart
The ruckman and 3 midfielders or onballers
Are there
Taking part
Midfielders cover all corners of the field
Running up to 20 kilometers during a game
Regularly having more than 30 disposals(kicks and handballs)
Their team's engine room; they are known by this name
Midfielders come in 2 types
In and under players who specialize in winning the ball
In contests, tight, that can be called
Outside players who carry the footy; run
Before delivering it downfield
Another type is a tagger or run-with player
Whose job is to contain an opposition star
Everyone
All important, they are
To gain distance: the best way
And the only way to get a goal is by kicking
Scoring is the aim of play
The drop punt is the most common of all
It spins backwards end over end
Making it easier to mark or catch the ball
Players, who for the extra distance are going for
Sometimes use a torpedo punt or torp to score
A banana kick or snap is often used on angles that are tight
To curl the ball through the air: what a sight
Slightly less official kicks are worm-burners
Which keep low
Rainmakers( which fly high in the air)
Clangers, straight to an opponent
Or into the crowd; go
Forwards, kicking a goal to score
They love it
But even more
By a perfect kick on the chest lace out
(Not the stitches that connect
The four pieces of the ball
But the main laces at the top centre)
They love being hit
If off target, the pass went
A contested mark, the players may have to attempt
One of the most difficult skills of the game
A player soars over a pack; his aim
Is to pluck the ball from the air
Metres above the ground
A mark known as a speecy or hanger
Most spectacular; it is bound
To bring the crowd to its feet
Without this: the game isn't complete
The teams tallest player plays best
In the ruck, bounces and boundary throw-ins
He contests
Punching forwards the ball
Tapping it to his teammates: all
When not jumping to win hitouts
Talls have to offer other skills
Often helping out in defense, they will
Plug the hole
Filling space in front of opposition forwards
Sneaking forward to try to kick a goal
Tackling and bumping between shoulder and knees
Is permitted
A good bump is called a hip, shoulder or shirtfront
When teams against each other are pitted
A good tackle( and some bad ones)will bring
A cry of "Ball!" from the crowd
A plea for a holding of the ball free kick
That it has been answered is indicated soon after
By a "Yes!" that is loud
If a player doesn't kick or handball on being tackled
"Holding the ball", an umpire will pay
To have control, the player must try
If the tackler grabs too high
Or holds a player who doesn't have the ball
It won't be tolerated at all
Can't push someone in the back
He can give a free away
Self discipline the players mustn't lack
A miss to either side, inside the shorter posts
Is a behind: worth one point at the most
If the player isn't sure
He waits for
The goal umpire: a decision to make
By raising 2 fingers then waving 2 flags
That's all it takes
A goal: to indicate
If it is just a behind: one finger and one flag
The noise of the crowd will let them know
Getting the hang of it is easy to do
Footy is for everyone: me and you
Join in: to the footy you have to go!

One More Day - Sinead O'connor ( Sung On The Video Of The 2005 Afl Premiership Grand Final Won By The Sydney Swans)

My love more dear than this life you are to me
Your kiss more clear than the crystal of the sea
Please save me i'm fallen here
I'm lost and alone

An angel weeps
I hear him cry
A lonely prayer
A voice so high

Dry all your tears
Come what may
And in the end the sun will rise
On one more day
Hey

(gaelic part)

Dry all your tears
Come what may
And in the end the sun will rise
On one more day
Hey

The sun will rise on one more day

Up There Cazaly

Roy Cazaly (1893 - 1963)

"Up There Cazaly" entered the Australian idiom, was used by infantrymen in North Africa in World War II, and became part of folk-lore.

Well you work to earn a living
But on weekends comes the time
You can do what ever turns you on
Get out and clear your mind
Me, I like football
And there's a lot of things around
But when you line 'em up together
The footy wins hands down

Up there cazaly, in there and fight
Out there and at 'em, show 'em your might
Up there cazaly, don't let 'em in
Fly like an angel, you're out there to win

Now there's a lot more things to football
That really meets the eye
There are days when you could give it up
There are days when you could fly
You either love or hate it
Depending on the score
But when your team run out or they kick a goal
How's the mighty roar (hooray, hooray)

Up there cazaly, in there and fight
Out there and at 'em, show 'em your might
Up there cazaly, don't let 'em in
Fly like an angel, you're out there to win

Up there cazaly, you're out there to win
In there and at 'em, don't let 'em in
Up there cazaly, show 'em you're high
Fight like the devil, the crowds on your side

Ahhh...
Up there cazaly, in there and fight
Out there and at 'em, show 'em you're might
Up there cazaly, show 'em you're high
Fight like the devil, the crowd's on your side
The - crowd's - on - your - side
